1. Working Principle
The power unit drives the plunger or diaphragm to perform periodic reciprocating motion within the pump cylinder. When the plunger or diaphragm retracts, negative pressure forms inside the cylinder, opening the inlet check valve; the discharge process occurs conversely. Its metering accuracy primarily depends on the stroke length and reciprocating frequency of the plunger or diaphragm. Adjusting these parameters enables precise control of the chemical injection flow rate.
2. Types
• Plunger pumps are the most widely used type of chemical injection pump. Flow is precisely regulated by altering the effective stroke through reciprocating plunger motion. They are commonly used to convey high-viscosity, high-pressure chemicals or those containing particulate impurities.
• Diaphragm pumps utilize a flexible diaphragm that reciprocates to draw in and discharge chemicals. The diaphragm isolates the pump's drive components from the conveyed medium, preventing chemical corrosion and contamination of drive parts while eliminating leakage risks. • Pneumatic chemical injection pumps utilize compressed gas as their power source. Their drive system is intrinsically safe, eliminating electrical power requirements. They can operate safely in hazardous environments such as flammable/explosive areas, damp conditions, or dusty settings. They are suitable for applications with high safety requirements, such as oil and gas extraction and explosion-proof zones in chemical plants.
